NNELS

The National Network for Equitable Library Service is a digital public library of downloadable titles for people with perceptual disabilities.  Library patrons can access NNELS through a web browser and download material in a variety of file formats such as DAISY, PDF, and e-text.

Eligibility

NNELS is for library cardholders with perceptual or print disabilities as defined in the Canadian Copyright Act. A print disability is anything that prevents or inhibits someone from reading a work in its original format (usually a printed book) as a result of:

  • Severe or total impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes.
  • The inability to hold or manipulate a book.
  • An impairment relating to comprehension.
How to access resources from NNELS

Shortgrass patrons with ‘talking book’ status on their library account can register for NNELS service using their library card number and PIN. Just click the "NNELS registration page" link below.

If your library membership does not have talking book status or you are unsure, please contact your local library.
